Pickin The Pines
Weatherside Whiskey Band’s four piece alt-country and bluegrass ensemble has been resonating with Pacific Northwest crowds, and has stormed the scene with its seven-track EP, “Pickin’ the Pines”. This “whiskey-swilling roadhouse outfit” is renowned for its down home sound with three-part vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, and upright bass.
This Seattle based group was formed in October 2011 and draws its country roots from Whidbey Island, Washington and Cody, Wyoming. The band has built a strong following with energetic stage presence, catchy melodies, and boot stomping rhythms. Their influences stem from traditional bluegrass (The Stanley Brothers, Doc Watson), country (Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash), and folk rock (Old Crow Medicine Show, Mumford & Sons).
The group is currently workshopping new tunes in preparation for its second album, expected to be released in 2014. Whether the band is on stage, busking on a sidewalk, or jamming on a scrap wood stage under the stars, these four friends “bring buoyant enthusiasm to their brand of jangly, road-worn tunes” - Seattle Weekly.
